Description
Glutathione (GSH) is the tripeptide gamma-L-glutamyl-L-cysteinyl-glycine, formula C10H17N3O6S, molecular weight 307.32 Da. The cysteinyl thiol group provides the reducing equivalent for glutathione peroxidase and glutathione S-transferase chemistry, cycling to the disulfide dimer GSSG. Supplied as a lyophilised reduced-form powder; readily oxidised on exposure to air, metal ions or alkaline pH. Used in redox-ratio measurement, conjugation-assay and oxidative-stress model research. For laboratory research use only.
